Getting Back On Track: Reviving Your Fitness Routine After A Break

Onlymyhealth Tamil

Life is a roller coaster ride filled with ups and downs, and sometimes, amidst the hustle, we may find ourselves taking an unintentional break from our fitness routines. Whether it’s due to a hectic work schedule, illness, travel, or just a lack of motivation, taking a break from your fitness regimen is a natural part of the journey. However, what matters most is how we pick ourselves up and get back on track.

If you’re wondering how to reignite your fitness flame after a break, you’ve come to the right place. Ishaan Arora, Karnal-Based Body Building India Certified Fitness Trainer, who currently provides online fitness-related tips explains some effective strategies to help you bounce back and reclaim your healthy habits.

Ways To Revive Fitness Routine After A Break

Here are some ways you can revive your fitness routine after a break.

Start Slowly and Progress Gradually

Start-Slowly-and-Progress-Gradually

“One of the most common mistakes people make after a fitness break is trying to jump back into their routine at full throttle. This can lead to burnout or even injuries,” said Arora. He suggested beginning with low-intensity exercises and shorter workout sessions.

“Allow your body to adjust to the increased physical activity, and as you gain confidence and strength, you can gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts,” he added.

Set Realistic Goals

“Assess where you stand regarding your fitness levels and set achievable goals. Be kind to yourself, understanding that regaining lost fitness takes time,” said Arora. “Whether it’s improving your stamina, lifting heavier weights, or mastering a new yoga pose, setting realistic milestones will keep you motivated and help you track your progress effectively,” he added.

Find an Exercise Buddy

Arora suggested that exercising with a friend or joining a fitness class can make a world of difference in getting back on track. “Having a workout buddy keeps you accountable and makes the journey more enjoyable. Group fitness classes offer a supportive environment where you can challenge yourself alongside like-minded individuals, boosting your commitment to the routine,” he added.

Create a Schedule

“Life can get chaotic, but a well-structured schedule can help you carve out time for exercise. Treat your workout appointments as non-negotiable commitments, just like any other important task in your day,” said the expert.

Focus on Nutrition

“A balanced diet plays a significant role in fueling your body for workouts and aiding recovery. Thus, you should incorporate a variety of nutrient-dense foods into your meals, including lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables,” said Arora. He said that hydration is also crucial for overall fitness, so make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Reward Yourself

“Whether it’s completing a week of consistent workouts or achieving a personal best in a particular exercise, acknowledge your efforts and reward yourself with non-food treats or little indulgences,” said Arora.

Conclusion

Getting back on track with your fitness routine after a break can be both challenging and rewarding. But the key is to start slowly, set achievable goals, and stay consistent. Be patient with yourself, and don’t be too hard on your body. Listen to its needs and give it the care it deserves.
