Reason for Rise in Dengue Cases in Chandigarh
Dr Suman Singh, the Director of UT Health Services, emphasised that this year’s risk of dengue and other diseases transmitted by vectors is elevated due to recent heavy rainfall and subsequent flash floods.
Dengue, a disease caused by the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, commonly known as the tiger mosquito, remains a persistent issue despite efforts from the UT malaria wing, which has conducted activities, such as fogging and anti-larval campaigns.

Rest and Sleep
Sufficient rest and sleep play a pivotal role in facilitating the body’s recovery from the infection. Dengue can induce severe fatigue and weakness, underscoring the significance of heeding your body’s cues and prioritising ample rest.
Manage Pain and Fever
Dengue frequently manifests with intense muscle and joint discomfort, alongside elevated body temperature. You can make use of natural techniques like applying cold compresses and taking warm baths can provide relief from these sensations of unease.
Boost Immunity
You should focus on boosting your immune system for better recovery. You can include immune-boosting foods and supplements in your diet to support your body’s natural defences. Vitamin C, found in citrus fruits, berries, and leafy greens, is known to enhance immunity.
Prevent Mosquito Bites
During your dengue recovery phase, safeguarding yourself against additional mosquito bites is of utmost importance to avert re-infection or the potential dissemination of the virus. Wear long-sleeved attire, apply mosquito repellents, and sleep under mosquito nets to reduce the chances of being bitten.
